Tracking Development of Uttarakhand - Updates & Review
« on: April 14, 2007, 01:26:01 PM »
Dear Friend,

Let us track the development of Uttarakhand.

Let us see the difference between the saying and doing of the Politicians and Government. Let us keep a check on whether whatever plans the Government announces from time to time, is it able to fulfill the same or not.

If necessary we can file RTIs and PILs to force the Government to fulfill its promises and complete its policy programmes within the Deadline.

Here the Commanders would be posting latest News / Developmental annoucements made by the Government.

What the members would do is to start new topics to discuss on any news / policy / developmental programme being posted here.

So get ready for some real action.  :jarksaber:

Policy No. 1 - New Agriculture Policy

Uttarakhand to bring new agri policy

BS Reporter / Dehra Dun April 14, 2007

Declaring that it would not allow the repeat of any Nandigram-like episode in Uttarakhand, the state government today announced that it would shortly bring a separate agriculture policy with an aim to protect the rapidly shrinking agri-land and provide special sops to farmers.

Faced with an alarming rise in agriculture land being given for industrial use and special economic zones, Agriculture Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said the government would protect agriculture land falling in the hands of land mafia and builders.

The latest government figures showed that the pattern of land use of nearly 24,000 hectares of agriculture land had changed in the past seven years.

Project No.1 - New Science City in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand to develop new science city

Dehra Dun, April 4 (PTI): A new science city costing Rs 100 crore would soon come up in Uttarakhand to develop it as a science state, its Science and Technology minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said on Tuesday.

In his first press conference, Nishank said the city, to be developed on 50 acres, would comprise a planetarium, a science park and other basic facilities.

However, the site for the new city is yet to be decided, Nishank said "We will soon identify a proper place for the new science city".

The city would be developed in three phases and the broader counters of the first phase have already been worked out, he said.

The young scientists in various fields like agriculture, horticulture and herbal sectors would be provided with all kind of state-of-the art facilities so that they can sharpen their skills further.

Nishank said 18 young scientists would soon be honoured for their contribution toward science. "This science city would also be an important tourist destination in the state".

In order to make science and technology popular among the masses, the government would also set up technology resource centres at all the 13 districts of the state.

An intellectual property rights mission would also be set up so as to protect the traditional wisdom and new discoveries made in the state. Traditional crops like buckwheat, finger millets would also be patented, he said.

Investigation No.1

Uttarakhand looks into land complaints
Dehra Dun April 17, 2007

Plots had been sold to companies despite restrictions.

The Uttarakhand government is investigating complaints that some plots given for setting up industries in the state were resold despite a restriction imposed such a move.

The chief minister’s office here is understood to have sought certain files from the government-run State Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Ltd (SIDCUL), the nodal agency that distributed plots at the three main industrial estates being developed by it.

While the process of distributing industrial plots in the Bhel industrial estate in Haridwar and Pantnagar has been completed, work on the Sitarganj industrial estate in Kumaon region is in its final stages. Besides this, SIDCUL is also developing a pharma city in Dehra Dun, and infotech parks and a growth centre in Kotdwar area.

Already, major companies like Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Nestle, HLL, Mahindra and Mahindra and several others have either set up their new units or are in the final stages of doing so.

However, there had been complaints that some of the plots were merely resold to inflate their prices at these industrial estates. There had been reports that some pages of the files had gone missing, official sources said.

It is believed that the district magistrates of Dehra Dun, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar have been summoned by top officials here regarding this.

In addition, the government is also keen to know how many youths have been given jobs by various industries that set up their units in Uttarakhand. A new assessment report on the employment in industries was also being prepared by the government, officials said.

Back to Mother Uttarakhand - Govt. paves way !!!
« Reply #4 on: June 07, 2007, 08:28:29 AM »
Definitely a welcome step  :w00t: :w00t:

And a great news for all those employees who were forced to work outside the State due to transfers.

This is a call from the motherland and whosoever is longing to back to his village / hometown has now the opportunity to bring into effect his transfer  by way of transfer on mutual understanding.

This would also clear Uttarakhand of the otherwise reluctant employees from UP and Bihar who missed their hometown.

So best of luck to you all and spread this good news

Regards
