You can not throw out such a good suggestion like this .......

Less tax on daru means less consumption of Tinchri (Country made liquor), lesser role of Sharab mafia in Uttarakhand. It will help tourism is also an added advantage. Where should the wine shops be located, that you can debate.

During prohibition, how much money is spend on stopping the flow of alcohal to a state is well known. In fact if tax on wine in one state is lower than other state, how much expenditure on policing is done by excise deptt is also known. How corrupt officials gain is also well known. who is the loser in such case? Garib aadmi, jiske paas black mein black label ke liye paise nahi hai, woh desi jehreeli sharab peekar mar jaata hai. Ameer aadmi tau black mein le ke bhee pee leta hai.

Banning (Including license/ permit raj) and Taxing is not solution ... .....  Solution is in regulating.

Just because suggestion is not matching your views, you can't say like this. +1 for jhangora ji for nice views  and -1 for  his highheadedness to core commander SIR. I have no authority else I would have given +2 to jhangora ji (core commander ka -1 off set karne ke liye)  and -10 to core commander SIR

Sawal yeh nahi ki uski ichchha sarkar pooree kare ya nahi. Lekin sirf ban karke ya High tax lagkar aap kisi ko sharab peene se nahi rok sakte. Ab agar usko achchhe cheez nahi milegi tau woh utne paise mein Zahar piyega. Kyon usko zahar pila rahe ho?

Aur sarkar paisa kharch kare Sharab ki burai batane mein, educate karne mein. Sharab ki policing kyon? Tax payer ka paisa kyon waste kiya jaaye? Aisa karne se koi fayda nahi hota, Sirf corrupt log kamai karte hein. I have examples of Haryana and Gujraat.

young_uttaranchal i personally dislike all those who consume alcohol.so iam totally indifferent towards what's the effect of alcohol on their health or budget.what happens to them after drinking zahrele shraab or what happens to those who drink good brands is totally non of my business.one has to face the consequences of every action they have chosen.my concern is for those families who have to suffer from all this.i am very rigid opponent of alcohol.

Presently my views are limited to Govt policies towards alcohal and its effect on larger part of society.

No one, and I repeat NO ONE, is a gainer if alcohal is taxed higher or banned, except corrupt officials.

I can share my personal views about Alcohal, but that is not subject matter of this debate.

Young_uttaran Bhai aajkal I'm in Haryana and here tax is very high.I have been to Daman and tax on daroo there is very low.Though there is prohibition in Gujarat people drink there and daroo ki supply is all from Daman.I see no point in living in one country and having such variations in taxes on daroo.I lived three years in S Korea and Daroo is available freely there{maybe bcoz of that people don't fight after drinking there}.I think it would be best if Daroo tax is reduced in Uttaranchal and it is made available in grocery and ration shops too.Let us show other states the right path.As for people who say that Daroo should be totally prohibited in Uttaranchal bcoz of pilgimage sites...I would like to point out all even Brahmans in Uttaranchal/Uttarakhand consume alcohol and meat.

Jhangora Bhai, a small correction, Tax on Alcohal may be high in Haryana compared to Daman, but it is low compared to Delhi. All Wine shops are at Delhi - Haryana Border on Haryana side. Delhi is having higher tax, but ppl drink in haryana and pay tax to Haryana. Haryana gets more tax at lower rate. Delhi waalon ka peena kam nahi kota. More tax difference is between HP and Chandigarh. At border HP police checks if you are smuggling Daaru to HP from Chandigarh. It sucks......

As regard Brahmins consuming meat and alcohal..... I have already stated in some other context that it is fashionable to oppose certain things and opposing alcohal is one of them. If you drink, drink it in privacy, enjoy it and if your liver or kiddney gets affected this is your problem, why should govt waste money in policing you for that? There are no effect like smoking in public place (passive smoking by non smokers) by drinking.
